STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT is a documentary series featuring human stories about real people who make video games.
STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT: INDIE CITY EDITION
Funded through Kickstarter!
Video games are made by people. Did you know? Some people don't. And that's a HUGE DEAL.
We're making short documentary films about indie game makers all over the world.
CHICAGO: THE INDIE CITY
We start in Chicago, with five episodes about the vibrant Chicago Indie scene.
Reborn from the ashes of the collapse of Midway and Wideload, Chicago's "Indie City" is forged from the crucible of AAA studios and the game design programs at DuPaul. They are young and hopeful, but also polished and poised. Oddly practical. Totally Midwestern.
We spent a month with Chicago's indies. Our stories are about their passions, their drive, and their lives. Why making games is the only thing they can imagine doing, even in the face of failure.
Featuring Young Horses (Octodad), The Men Who Wear Many Hats (Organ Trail), William Chyr (Manifold Garden), Culture Shock Games (We Are Chicago), Trinket Studios (Battle Chef Brigade), Greg Wohlwend (Tumbleseed), Chris Wade (Sausage Sports Club), and more.
Produced and directed by Russ Pitts, the creator of polygon.com's "Human Angle" webseries, and the author of "How Video Games Are Made"; "Eagle Semen"; and "Sex, Drugs & Cartoon Violence."
